My Story

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed

citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has” – Margaret Mead

I stumbled upon this quote on the brochure of “The Centre for Health Design” Symposium where we gave a talk on Colour in San Diego many years ago. The organizer Wayne Ruga has since become a dear friend and supporter of this project.

L-R Pearl River - Guangzhou - home of Sun Yat Sen and our family

When I began waking myself up nearly five decades ago, I was like a “blank sheet of paper” as Mao Tse-Tung referred to China. He defeated Chiang Kai Shek in the civil war and then proclaimed “The People’s Republic of China”. Since then I have filled in the blank page with the best I could find which has led me here. I was on a mission, then unformed, to find my identity, fulfil my destiny and help create a better world.

“The greatest use of life is to use it, for something that will outlast it” – William Blake

That quote resonated with me. Those were the early days in Jamaica. A vision to wake myself up and create a path, spurred me on as a young man, on a journey over many decades, various countries and experiences to become Enlightened.

As a young man I was at a crossroads in my life. I stood at a bus stop, ready to leave for good and wondered what lay ahead. A voice echoed in my head, “You have to wake yourself up and create a path”. Life took me on a journey over decades, across various countries and many experiences.

I will dedicate the rest of my time here to further this and help shift us to a whole new level of consciousness. The movie will be an important step of that goal, along with talks/meetings (Zoom) and live appearances, fund raising where appropriate etc. Your participation and support is vital.
We are all under ONE heaven as Sun Yat sen proclaimed.

Before we are enlightened, we chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, we chop wood, carry water.

The “Last Emperor” (1987) needs a sequel to inform and update the world about China – enter Sun Yat-sen and his effect on Modern China and its Peaceful Rise. He is the ideal person to use as a bridge between East and West (China/Taiwan) having been educated in Hawaii and Hong Kong. We must rise above geopolitics, mind games and egos and embrace that which furthers, for the benefit of everyone and future generations.

All of those experiences have contributed to who I am now. From the sublime (being a teacher, author) to the seemingly mundane (being a driver), gave me profound experiences where I had my finger on the pulse of public consciousness. Creating an organization (Living Colour) and co-writing an international best-selling book; attending exhibitions and teaching were all enriching and defining experiences.

Having self-financed the whole project to date the next step is to make the movie which will help to inform people about the incredible civilization that is China and who today is helping to uplift the world in a much needed way. We need to create a more humane and compassionate way for a New World Order.

I am a product of both East and West. Neither has THE answer so it’s vital that China and USA cooperate politically and on a people to people level to make our world a better place for everyone. European enlightenment has contributed to the world however science always lags behind consciousness, so we must move beyond intellect and go straight to the Source now. This is our present challenge, our collective mission. Its already happening as many others are working for this too. Much of this work blossomed in the USA in the 60’s. The world is waking up. This is the true hope for humanity!

The future looks bright!

Sun Yat sen said the revolution is not over! However, this thinking needs updating because revolution is not the appropriate way forward today. We have tried it before and it traps us on a wheel (going round in circles). We can choose to see life differently!

The Chinese play GO while the West plays CHESS and see life more flexible and more fluid, Yin and Yang. Kishore Mahbubani give a lovely insight in his You Tube video “The First Non-White Superpower” One flows into the other. Cross the river by feeling the stones. This requires a high degree of presence. Today with so many Chinese going abroad to study their thinking have altered too. Generally, the West lags behind with their knowledge of China but that’s changing and its my intention to help with the podcast and the movie. The trickles are already on the rise.

A waterfall begins with a single drop! – from the Chinese

This transformation is our collective mission and I dedicate the rest of my time here to further this as well as shift us to a whole new level of consciousness on the planet. The movie will be the important part of that goal along with talks, appearances, fund raising etc. Join me on this journey.

The Native Americans shouted as they rode into battle. Those brave of heart, go to the front!

This is it! We ALL have to show up and ride into the fray! Failure is not an option!

My confidence is buoyed by decades of travel, experience and results. We have everything we need to meet the challenges of our time! As Lao Tse said:
“The way to do, is to be”.

The podcast and this website is the precursor to make the movie. I cordially invite you to get involved. Leave your details so we can inform you of our plans/progress. Tell us how you want to participate (refer the website/podcast to someone, donate, make suggestions, offer to help etc ). We are in the most important endeavour of our time – to save ourselves and create a better world for everyone because - “If one suffers, we all suffer” – The Native Americans!

At first a thing looks impossible, then improbable, then inevitable!

Like my illustrious ancestor, Sun Yat sen, I am committed to an ideal to use my life for something greater than me. We are all one under heaven!

Wake up everybody, wake up! This is not a drill!

Please inform ONE person about the website/podcast and ask them to do the same. Aloha!
